Edu institutes in JK parts continue to remain shut on Friday, Saturday | KNO

Srinagar, May 08 (KNO): Amid prevailing situation, authorities Thursday said that the educational institutes in Baramulla, Kupwara and those falling nearby Srinagar and Awantipora airports shall continue to remain closed on Friday and Saturday. It also said that the school and colleges in five districts of Jammu region shall also remain closed on May-09. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the officials have said, “All the schools including the government as well as private schools in Baramulla, Kupwara and those falling nearby the Srinagar and Awantipora Airport shall remain closed on May-09 and May-10 as precautionary measures. Besides, the authorities have also said that the schools falling under the sub-division in Gurez shall also remain closed on May-09 and May-10 as a part of precautionary measures. Divisional Commissioner Jammu on microblogging site X said, “In view of the prevailing situation all Schools, Colleges & educational institutions (private as well as Government) in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch shall remain closed tomorrow on 9th May as well.” In the meantime J&K State Eligibility Test Agency (Jammu) has postponed the JKSET/LASET Examination 2024-25 slated for May-11. “Due to the prevailing situation, the JKSET/LASET Examination 2024-25, scheduled to be held on May-11-2025 in UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, stands postponed till further notice,” it reads. Earlier the University of Kashmir had also postponed all the exams that were scheduled to be held till May-10. Assistant Controller Conduct of KU in an order on Wednesday had said, “It is hereby notified that all examinations of the University of Kashmir scheduled to be held upto and including 10.05.2025 stand postponed.”—(KNO)
